The previous decking and sleeper raised beds had rotted in only 7 years, this was mainly due to contact with the soil contained in the raised sleeper beds which the old deck was nestled within. The client was keen for a more durable solution to enjoy the fabulous view over Bristol.
Hardwood decking was investigated, but decided against due to concerns with sustainability and high cost. We opted for high grade tanalised softwood, which was treated with an additional preservative before installation. Additionally, brackets were used to keep all timber parts above ground to minimse rot.
