The former garden was heavily sloped, and the client wished to maximize play room for her son. A large volume of soil was removed using a digger and power barrow.
Raised bed retaining walls were created to level the lawn. The rear wall was constructed from reclaimed blocks from the previous garden, and reinforced with concrete blocks to enhance stability. Borders on the right hand side are constructed of sleepers, with a square border in the back corner hosting a purple Acer palmatum dissectum ‘Crimson Princess’ to soften the corner.
Planting around the edges is mainly evergreen flowering shrubs and climbers , including a Garrya elyptica ‘James Roof’ at the back left near the shed, Sarcocca, Osmanthus burkwoodii, Chosiya, Daphne and numerous fragrant and evergreen Trachelospermum jasminoides along with Clematis armanii ‘Apple Blossom’ trained on attractive diamond trellis.
